No, you do not have to be "good" at yoga to practice with me. In fact, there is no such thing as being "good" at yoga. Yoga is a personal practice that is meant to be adaptable to the individual, regardless of their physical abilities or experience level. As a yoga teacher, I strive to incorporate all aspects of the eight limbs of yoga into my teaching, including breathwork, meditation, and philosophy, to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive practice for my students.
My goal as a yoga teacher is to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals can explore their practice and connect with their bodies, regardless of their level of experience. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or a beginner, I am here to support you in your practice and guide you through poses, movements, and philosophy that are appropriate for you.
Yoga is a practice that is meant to be non-judgmental, and it is important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to practice. I encourage individuals to approach their practice with curiosity and compassion, and to honor their body's unique needs. So, whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years, I am here to support you in your journey towards physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
For yoga coaching there are no requirments.
To work with me for eating disorder coaching services, you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are actively struggling with an eating disorder or significant mental health concerns, it is important that you are also working with an eating disorder therapist and/or dietitian and following any recommended medical follow-ups. This is to ensure that you are receiving comprehensive care for your eating disorder and that I am able to collaborate with your treatment team to provide the best support possible.
If you are not currently working with an eating disorder therapist and/or dietitian, we can discuss this during our initial communications or as our work together progresses. I am happy to provide referrals and help you coordinate care with other providers as needed.
However, please note that coaching is not a substitute for therapy, and it is important that you receive appropriate mental health care from a licensed mental health professional if you are struggling with an eating disorder or other significant mental health concerns.
The difference between therapists and coaches in the context of eating disorder recovery is that therapists are licensed mental health professionals with specialized training to help you examine the underlying issues behind your eating disorder and work through them. They are also able to diagnose and treat other psychological issues that may be present, such as depression, anxiety, trauma history, or substance use disorders.
As a coach, I do not diagnose or treat conditions. Instead, my focus is on supporting you in the "here and now" of recovery and helping you accomplish day-to-day behavioral changes. I work in conjunction with your therapist or treatment team to provide support in areas where you may need additional assistance, such as navigating eating at restaurants or grocery shopping.
Coaching sessions are generally more flexible can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Coaching sessions can be conducted in a variety of settings and can be of varying lengths depending on what is most helpful for you.
While therapists and coaches have different roles in eating disorder recovery, both can be valuable sources of support and guidance.
However, it's important to note that coaching is not a substitute for therapy and should not be used as the sole form of treatment for eating disorders or other mental health issues. If you are struggling with an eating disorder or other mental health issues, it's important to seek the help of a licensed mental health professional.
While there are some similarities between therapy and coaching, the main difference is the focus of each. Therapy tends to focus on the past and healing, while coaching tends to focus on the present and future. It's important to note that both therapy and coaching can be valuable and effective in helping individuals improve their mental health and achieve their goals.
I currently work with ages 18 and up. I primarily work with individuals who have been diagnosed with:
-Anorexia nervosa
-Bulimia nervosa
-Orthorexia and/or Compulsive Exercise
I also work with those as well as those struggling with any disordered eating or body image issues that are causing distress. It's important to note that while I specialize in working with individuals with diagnosed eating disorders, I also provide support and guidance for those who may not have an official diagnosis but are still struggling with disordered eating or body image concerns.
Yes, absolutely! You have the option to choose to have yoga sessions and coaching sessions together or separately based on your needs and preferences.
